2 die as train rams loader in Kanpur | Kanpur News

KANPUR: Two persons died when a train rammed into a loader at a manned railway crossing on Kanpur-Jhansi rail route in Gajner police area of Kanpur Dehat district on Wednesday night. The accident affected train traffic for nearly nine hours.
According to reports, as the Gandhi Nagar Superfast Capital Weekly train approached the Jalalpur railway crossing and the gateman was about to close the gates, a loader driver tried to cross the tracks. However, the train rammed into the loader and the driver and his assistant died on the spot.
The insulator of the OHE (overhead-line equipment) was damaged as the loader hit the pole. “The OHE line could be repaired by around 9 am and rail traffic was restored,” Jhansi DRM Ashutosh Kumar, said, adding that the matter was being investigated.
