2 workers from West Bengal killed as electric tower collapses in Meerut | Meerut News

MEERUT: Two daily wage workers died and six others were injured after an under construction electricity tower collapsed in the outskirts of Ajrana village under Mundali police station area of Meerut on Wednesday.
Those who died have been identified as Mohd Hasrat (25) and Mohd Azmal (24), both residents of Gouripur area of Malda district in West Bengal. All injured persons also belonged to West Bengal.
Police said that the incident occurred when top part of the tower was being assembled and the process of laying an electricity line from Kasauti to Gulawathi area in Bulandshahr was in progress at the under construction tower.
Police reached the spot and sent the injured to the hospital. All of them sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment. Bodies of the two workers who died were sent for postmortem.
Senior superintendent of police Rohit Singh Sajwan said, “A probe is being conducted. Further action will be taken on the basis of the report.”
