Code Name Tiranga: Film Code Name: Tiranga is actor Parineeti Chopra’s first theatre release this year but it has turned out to be a huge disaster and its opening weekend has been simply forgettable. The film opened to negative reviews on October 14 and that affected its earnings at the box office. The film clashed with Ayushmann Khurrana’s Doctor G, which had an opening of around Rs 3.25 crore. By Day 5, Code Name had earned a mere Rs 15 lakh. The film also stars actor-singer Harrdy Sandhu.
No promotion
The writing has been there on the wall for everyone to see as Code Name saw no promotion or marketing accompanying it after the first promo was out. Even the release was just a formality with just a couple of shows or so allocated to it. To make things worse for Code name, it had not only Doctor G as the competition, but there was Kantara (Hindi) that came out of nowhere and that was too much to take for the film.

Box office
Ribhu Dasgupta’s directorial venture Code Name: Tiranga collected Rs 15 lakh on Day 1. According to reports, the film had a disappointing Day 5 at the box office. Box Office India had earlier reported that the film couldn’t pull audiences despite low ticket prices of Rs 100. The report stated, “The cheap ticket theory for a better collections is slowly dying a slow death with films like Goodbye and Code Name Tiranga. It worked on cinema day for films like Chup and Dhoka but that was a one off.”
Code Name: Tiranga is Parineeti Chopra’s first theatre release this year. The numbers are very low and at this rate, the film could soon be wiped out from the theatres.
